01 — THE BRIEF

7 BRANDS · 3 COUNTRIES · 1 PLATFORM

7 BRANDS

GreenIsland builds solutions for online and land-based casinos. Its platform gives a casino owner a one-stop solution to start their gaming ambitions, and the ambition behind it was to run several operators from one platform, in several regulated markets, each with country-specific requirements, branding and compliance rules. The frontend that had to carry this was a legacy ASP.NET MVC 4 application.

I joined in May 2022 as frontend tech lead to rebuild that frontend from scratch in TypeScript and React, and to design it as a white label from the start: one platform, many operators, each with independent branding, features and market configuration, and each with full control over its own content and publishing.

02 — WHAT WAS BUILT

THREE PARTS · ONE PLATFORM

THREE PARTS

  1. 01

    White-label frontend

One TypeScript and React codebase serves every operator, with branding, features and market configuration independent per tenant, held together by a shared design system and component library across all seven. Faster websites, modern user journeys and a consistent interface improved customer experience and commercial performance.

  2. 02

    Contentful architecture

A Contentful implementation designed for many operators: each has full control over its own content and publishing workflows.

  3. 03

    GI Konsole

An internal developer platform on AWS that centralises access to services and operational data across 21 cloud accounts.

MAY 2022 — PRESENT · FIVE MOVES

FIVE MOVES · 2022 —

  1. 01

    Rebuild from scratch

    MAY 2022 · FOUNDATION

Replaced the legacy ASP.NET MVC 4 application with a TypeScript and React architecture, first deployed with Next.js on Vercel.

  2. 02

    White label and design system

    ARCHITECTURE

Designed the frontend so multiple operators share one platform with independent branding, features and market configuration, and established the shared design system and component library used across every tenant.

  3. 03

    Seven launches

    FOUR YEARS · REGULATED MARKETS

Launched seven casino websites across Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain, each with its country's requirements, branding and compliance rules.

  4. 04

    Back office and GI Konsole

    INTERNAL TOOLS

Redesigned the back-office interface so customer experience teams deliver faster and more effective support, and architected GI Konsole, an internal developer platform on AWS spanning 21 cloud accounts.

  5. 05

    Own infrastructure

    MIGRATION

Migrated the platform from Next.js on Vercel to TanStack Start on internal infrastructure, for more control and flexibility. Alongside, designed and delivered a sports news platform for one of the casino brands.
